Around the end of treatment
The end of treatment
When treatment ends, a new phase begins. For many families, this is an important milestone. Alongside relief and happiness comes the search for a new balance, a new normal. Because not everything immediately goes back to the way it was before. Feelings of uncertainty, tension, sadness or fatigue may also continue. Often, it is only now that there is more space to reflect on everything that has happened. Children, parents, and siblings each experience this period in their own way.
Getting back to everyday life takes time. Your child needs to recover from intensive treatment and learn to manage their energy again. They also need to get used to school, sports, and other activities again. For you, it is about finding a new balance within your family, with your work, and with other activities. Recovery often has its ups and downs. It can be difficult when people around you expect everything to be ‘normal’ again, while you are still in the middle of recovery and processing what has happened.
You are now entering a phase in which you and your family need to find your way again. There is still help and support available, both within the Princess Máxima Center and outside it. Below you will find several options.
